Join Advocates dynamic team of fun professionals! Service Specialists work one-on-one or in groups with school age clients placed in care for a variety of reasons. Some of our clients struggle with controlling behaviors during challenging situations, some of our clients have a mental health diagnosis and are learning coping mechanisms, some clients are placed in our care through our license with the State of Wisconsin as a child placing organization for foster care; some clients are here for all of these reasons. Job Title: Service Specialist

Reports to: Community Based Services Manager / Education Services Manager

Primary Responsibilities: Deliver quality services, on-site and in the community, in a way that most benefits the client and their team, while working toward established recovery plan goals. 

Other Responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate SHARED Values 
  • Provide Safety for children at all times
  • Prioritize building Trust with all children by allowing Choice (client-led action steps), Collaborating with, and Empowering children in our care.
  • Provide consistent, effective communication, as required (includes clients, client families and teams, referral sources and outside collaborators) 
  • Timely submission of required service documentation and notes 
  • Participation in supervision, team meetings and group programming 
  • Attending trainings as designated by manager 
  • Maintaining professionalism at all times when representing Advocates for Healthy Transitional Living 
  • Creating a safe and productive environment at all times 
  • Transportation of clients, as required

Ability to:

  • Provide Unconditional Positive Regard for all children at all times to deliver compassion
  • Empathize with childrens' situations effectively and help them work through difficulties by learning and applying the foundational skills of Motivational Interviewing
  • understand client needs and issues 
  • give and receive feedback 
  • positively engage with individuals from diverse backgrounds 
  • clearly communicate with individuals of varying communication skills to resolve conflict adequately
  • document and submit accurate information 

 

Experiences and Qualifications 

  • Experience with at-hope populations (preferred)
  • Pass background check 
  • Proof of Automobile Insurance and valid driver’s license 
  • High-school diploma
  • Flexible schedule, if required (evenings, weekends, etc.) 

The Service Specialist position offers competitive pay and benefits, flexible schedule, paid training and continuing education opportunities, and individual and group supervision provided by a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, where required.
